Every year Greg Mortenson visits over 100 cities a year to lecture and raise awareness about the value of literacy and education, to bring about global peace and prosperity. His 17 years of experience working in remote, rugged mountain regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan has made him an expert in a region that few people know about – which is now front and center on the global arena of the war on terror. Through his unique perspective of the region’s culture, history, geo-politics and development aspects, Mortenson shares insightful commentary and stunning photography about his extraordinary journey of a decade long effort to promote girl’s education.
Mortenson has spoken at over 1,100 venues, and presently receives over 2,000 speaking requests per year. These places include the Pentagon, Capitol Hill, think tanks, Universities, schools, churches, synagogues, mosques, women’s groups, outdoor, business and civic groups.
Due to his lengthy travels overseas and extended travel schedule, the opportunities to accommodate Mortenson’s appearances are limited. If Mortenson is able to appear at a given venue, an honorarium and specific guidelines must be agreed to in advance by the host. Please note that Mortenson’s appearances are often scheduled over a year in advance.
A book signing of Stones into Schools and Three Cups of Tea is normally included with each of Mortenson’s appearances.
